It is inherent to generate a rule in Windows 7 that will automatically retort to all incoming messages or only to definite incoming messages. Firs you have consider the fact that if you want your auto responder to work while you are on a vacation or at work, your computer will have to powered on and online all the time. If that sounds like too much issue for you than it is much great to set up an auto responder in the mail server and not in Windows 7. If leaving your Pc running for long periods of time is not a question for you than here are the steps you will have to supervene to set up an auto responder in Windows Vista:
1. First you will have to open the Windows Vista mail and click on the generate mail button.

2. You don't have to fill in the To: and Cc: lines. You have to fill in the field line and you also have to enter the message in the body of the message that you want to be sent automatically by the auto responder each time person sends you a mail.
3. Go to File and then select Save As. You can find this in the menu bar that is located at the top of windows vista mail application.
4. Go to the portfolio where you want to save your just created message, give the message a name and click on the save button.
5. You can now close the windows that you used to generate the message.
Now you have a auto responder ready message that is saved as an.eml file. If you are not sure if you saved the file correctly, just go to the directory you saved the file in and check for the extension (the file should look like an envelope.)

Go to tools, select message rules and select mail. This will allow you to generate the new rule. You can specify which messages will be auto responded in box 1. You can select to retort to all messages or you can define the rule more precisely.
The bad thing about this auto responder is that it's impossible to test it before using it by sending a message from your own mail account. A message will pop out saying that it is impossible to send a message to your own account, if you will ever try to do that. The good thing is that you can make a free email catalogue at many places on the internet for free. When you have your free catalogue ready, just send a test message to your windows mail catalogue and you will see if it works or not.
Setting up a auto responder in windows vista is easy, but ordinarily it's not very practical. That's why I recommend to use a auto responder highlight in your mail server. That way you won't have to leave your personal computer on for long periods of time.
